Edna Scanlon Steman, age 100, of Maple Lake died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Chatham Township. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
Edna Agnes Scanlon Steman was born February 3, 1904 at Montrose to Patrick and Ellen (Grattan) Galvin. She married Joseph Scanlon November 23, 1926 in Waverly and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1971. She married Michael Steman on May 9, 1975 in Maple Lake and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1982. Edna was an elementary school teacher for 40 years, retiring in 1970. She taught in rural schools and later in Monticello and Maple Lake. She was a member of St. Timothy`s Church, Council of Catholic Women, SAM Quilters, and Maple Lake VFW Post #7664 Auxiliary. She was a volunteer driver for Wright County and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Eileen Norris of Beaverton, OR, JoAnne Streich of Springfield, Rita Paumen & her husband, Orville of Maple Lake; sister, Helen Kespohl of Buffalo; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; 7 brothers & sisters; grandson, Larry Paumen; sons in law, Ray Norris & Virgil Streich.
