Obituary

Earl H. Nelson, age 77, of Annandale died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at ELEAH Medical Center, Elbow Lake.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Earl Henry Samuel Nelson was born December 3, 1926 in French Lake Township, Wright County to Henry and Marie (Bukkala) Nelson. From 1950-1952 he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, farmed in French Lake Township until 1967, then was an electrician for Johnson Electric, Cold Spring Electric, and others until retiring in 1984. He married Joyce (Marschel) Nelson on September 12, 1980 in Zion Lutheran Church. Earl was a member of South Haven VFW Post #7332 and Zion Lutheran Church where he was a former church trustee. He was formerly Wright County NFO Treasurer, Wright County Soil Conservation Board Member, Albion-French Lake Creamery Board Secretary, Cokato Creamery Board Member, and chairman, secretary, & treasurer of Riverside Cemetery in French Lake Twp. Earl enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, his grand kids, and his dog, Maggie.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Annandale; step children & their spouses, Jean & Charlie Wanha of Elk River, Kenny & Terri of Annandale, Lee & Cindy of Annandale, Jeff & Marilyn of Annandale, Amy & Geoffrey Bryant of Maple Lake; sister in law, Ardis Nelson of Park Rapids; brother in law, Brad Katzele of Vancouver, WA; 11 step grandchildren, Jill, Ashley, Jordan, Donny, Kayla, Nicole, Jacob, Hayden, Emalee, Alainna, Rylee; 1 step great grandson, Tucker; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents and 8 brothers & sisters preceded him in death.

The pallbearers will be Eino & Donny Nelson, Jordan Wanha, Roger, Mark, and Darrel Marschel. The organist for the service will be Kathy Queck. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
