Duane "Sal" Becker, age 70, of Kimball died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. Tom Olson as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Watkins.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and at the Church one hour prior to services.  There will be a prayer service 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and a Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus St. Damien Council at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.  Memorials are preferred to St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Duane William "Sal" Becker was born December 1, 1941 in St. Cloud to William and Francis (Eichers) Becker.  He graduated from Kimball High School with the class of 1959.  Duane served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid.  On May 6, 1967, he was united in marriage to Jelda Joy Veness at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins.  Duane founded, owned and operated BecBro Incorporated, a drywall construction company, for over 20 years and Fire Trak Corp., a construction products manufacturer, for just under 20 years.  He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, where he was a Trustee, Knights of Columbus St. Damien Council 11345, Order of Catholic Foresters, N.R.A., Watkins American Legion Post 0453 and the Wat-Kim-Valley VFW Post 5460.  Duane was a past member of the International Code Council, ASTM, AWCI, was a past Kimball School Board member and a past president of the board at Kimball Golf Club.  Sal enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and inventing.

He is survived by his wife Jelda; children & their spouses Robin & Mark Dockery of Sartell, Brian & Kris of Kimball and Derek & Tia of Watkins; brother Dennis of Kimball; grandchildren Tyler, Regan, Jordan, Gabe, Ellie, Tommy and Andy.  He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Francis; and brothers Daryl, Dave and Delton.

Pallbearers will be Mark and Robin Dockery, Brian, Kris, Derek and Tia Becker.  Military honors will be provided by the Wat-Kim-Valley VFW Post 5460 and the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard.  Frosty Schiefelbein, Tom Schreiner and the St. Anne's Choir will provide the music for the service.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
