Dorothy Lucille (McGillivray) Baker, age 76, of Annandale sustained multiple injuries after a serious car accident on November 5, fought a seven week battle to regain her strength and passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, into the loving arms of her Savior and Lord on December 22, 2011.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church and also Tuesday one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Church in Annandale.
Dorothy Lucille Baker was born September 13, 1935 in Minneapolis to Raymond and Lucille (Noreen) McGillivray. She was a 1954 graduate of Wayzata High School and married Earl Baker on February 11, 1955. Dorothy was best known for being a Faithful Servant of God and a wonderful Painter/Artist. She was devoted to her Bible Study and daily devotions with David Jeremiah. She adored her family and loved spending time with all of them. She was a nature lover and enjoyed hours watching birds & wildlife and tending to her flowers. Dorothy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church & the Cemetery Committee, and was a former Choir Member. She recently became a member of the Annandale Improvement Club. She and Earl enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with their many friends.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Earl Baker of Annandale, twin brother Donald McGillivray of St. Louis Park, daughters Deb Jarvi of St. Cloud, Lynn (Dave) Manthie of Milaca, Cheryl McAlpine of Big Lake, son David (Michelle) Baker of Brooklyn Park, 8 grandchildren Korey Faust, Aaron (Mandi) Jarvi, Angela (Phil) Nelson, Barbara Manthie, Amanda (Kelly) Garren, Brian McAlpine, Austin Copsey, Chase Baker, and 7 great grandchildren Orlando, Christian, Bobby, Braeden, Kali, Avery & Capri. She was preceded in death by her parents, son in law Thomas McAlpine, grandson Travis Copsey, brothers in law Thomas Baker & Larry Baker, and sister in law Sandy McGillivray.
The pallbearers will be Aaron Jarvi, Brian McAlpine, Kelly Garren, Barbara Manthie, Austin Copsey, and Chase Baker. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
