Dorothy H. Bentrup, age 91, of Annandale died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Annandale Care Center.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church.

Dorothy H. Bentrup was born May 22, 1924 in Holland, Minnesota to Rev. Julius and Gladys (Myers) Buelow. She was baptized on June 8, 1924 at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. As a young girl, Dorothy moved with her family to rural Rushford, Minnesota. On May 22, 1938 she was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushford. Dorothy attended school in Rushford and graduated with the Class of 1942. After graduation, Dorothy helped various women in the neighborhood provide care for their children and help maintain their homes. On June 29, 1944 Dorothy entered the United States Navy, and proudly served our country until her honorable discharge on March 8, 1946. Upon her discharge, Dorothy returned to the Rushford area and attended teacher's college in Winona. On July 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Rev. Herman Carl Bentrup at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushford by her father Rev. Julius Buelow. While her husband served the communities of Pequot Lakes, Austin, and Germantown, Iowa before moving to Annandale in 1967, Dorothy aided him with his duties while also raising their three children. Rev. Herman and Dorothy served Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale until retirement in 1985. Dorothy continued to be active at Zion Lutheran Church as a member of LWML, Busy Needles, and by being a kitchen helper during vacation bible school. In her spare times, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, needlework, baking and play solitaire. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Linda of Elkhart, IN, and JoAnne and Tim Nelson of Rockford; grandchildren, Toyna, Leza, Melanie and Melissa; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Kyle, Marisa, Camila, Amelia, and Kylie; siblings, Marion (Waldo) Schlipp of Isanti, and Walter "Jerry" (Harriet) Buelow of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Darlene Buelow of Bloomington; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Julius and Gladys Buelow, husband, Rev. Herman Bentrup, son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Karla Bentrup, grandson, Langdon Bentrup, and siblings, Rev. Donald Buelow, Rev. Paul Buelow and Betty Hanke.

Julie Starke will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
