Obituary
DonnaMay R. Beckman, age 77 of Maple lake died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Annandale Care Center.
Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake. Rev. Steven King will officiate and burial will be in the Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Camp Friendship.
DonnaMay R. Beckman was born August 12, 1930 in Minneapolis to Ragnar and Hedwig (Melin) Johnson. She married Royal Beckman on September 17, 1949 in Minneapolis and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2007. They moved to Maple Lake in 1962, when they purchased Crescent Ridge Resort on Cedar Lake. DonnaMay worked for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Maple lake Messenger, Monticello Community Education and was the director of Maple Lake Community Education. She was a member of the Maple Lake Lioness Club, Eastern Star, Maple Lake American Legion Auxiliary Post 131, volunteered for Camp Friendship and was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Maple Lake. DonnaMay's favorite hobbies were reading, gardening, watching the birds, fishing with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stephen Paumen of Maple Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Cynthia Beckman of Monticello; sister and brother-in-law, AnnMarie and Lyle Bennett of Windom; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Royal; parents; 5 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; and 2 nieces.
Urn Bearers will be Sharon Paumen and Joseph Beckman. Kurt Johnson, Perry Sloneker and Joe Thomas will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care.
