Donald M. Wimmer, age 86, of Kimball died Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Kimball with Fr. Thomas Olson as Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Kimball. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A prayer service will be held at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donald Mathias Wimmer was born January 2, 1929 in Forest City, Minnesota to John J. and Elizabeth A. (Ertl) Wimmer. Donald attended country schools and completed his GED in 1971 from Willmar High School. He served his country in the National Guard, where he obtained rank of marksman. On April 11, 1953 Donald was united in marriage to Marilyn R. Brutger at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Forest City, Minnesota. Donald lived in Kimball over 55 years where he was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and he farmed. He worked for Litchfield Produce Co., Anderson Trucking in Kingston, Custom Products, and Sparboe Farms in Litchfield. He was a member of 4 Polka Clubs as he loved to dance. He also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting.
Donald is survived by his son, Eugene (Joann) of Little Falls; daughter, Jane (Paul) Nelson of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Jaclyn Schultz, Angela (Kory) Mortezaee, and Michael (Cassidy) Wimmer; great grandchildren, Kayla and Austin Mortezaee; brother, John (Joan) of Litchfield; sisters, Gen Hemmesch, Isabel Anglin, Hildegard Ornberg all of Litchfield, and Valeria Schmit of Elk River; and sister-in-law, Gloriette WImmer of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn , brothers, Ralph and Clem and sister, Delores, and 3 infant grandchildren.
Michael Wimmer, George Larson, Tom Wimmer, Ralph Wimmer, John Wimmer, Duane Asfeld, Rick Schmit, and Greg Ornberg will servce as pallbearers. St. Anne's Choir will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
