Mr. Donald C. Smith, age 81, of Maple Lake died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2005 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Timothy's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Donald Carl Smith was born January 10, 1924 in Maple Lake to Asa C. and Marjorie A. (Jude) Smith. Donald was a 1941 graduate of Maple Lake High School and later went on to serve his Country in the Navy during WW II. He married Lucille B. Provo October 30, 1947 in Maple Lake. Donald retired as president of Jude Candy & Tobacco in 1986 after working 34 years in the Anoka, Maple Lake, and Plymouth offices. Donald was a lifetime resident of Maple Lake where he was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Father O'Brien's Council Knights of Columbus #3613, and the Maple Lake American Legion Post #131. Donald loved his family and enjoyed traveling, gardening, sports, and singing in the church choir.
Donald is survived by his wife, Lucille of Maple Lake; children, Linda of Ramsey, Julie (Dennis) Boettcher of Big Lake, Gary (Chris) of Webster, WI, Steven (Julie) of Annandale, Cynthia (Larry) Woolhouse of Becker, James (Sandra) of Elk River, Greg (Pamela) of Becker, Kevin (George) of Minneapolis, and Debra (Mark) Wurm of Maple Lake; brothers, Ralph (Mary) of St. Cloud, and Richard (Eloise) of Litchfield; sisters, Dorothy (Wally) Jorgenson of CA, and Sally (Dan) Reinert of Bloomington; brother in law, Phil McManus of Crystal, 19 grandchildren; step grandchildren; great grandchildren; and step great grandchildren. Sisters, Juanita Smith and Catherine McManus, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Justin Eggert, Ryan, Kyle, Jared, Loren, & Megan Smith. The music for the funeral provided by Voice Trek, Wendy & Dolly Plaster, Michael McDeid, and Linnea Johnson.
