Donald J. Paumen, age 88, of Maple Lake died Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake celebrated by Fr. Steven Hoffman. Burial will follow at St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Donald Jerome Paumen was born September 9, 1923 to Martin and Veronica (Stumpf) Paumen at the family farm west of Maple Lake where he resided his entire life. He wed Angela Dearing on August 16, 1949 in Annandale. He served his Country in the Army Air Force during WW II as a B-24 Bomber Pilot completing 33 missions in the European Theatre. He was a successful farmer and enjoyed assisting his sons on the farm, helping with any projects in which they were involved. Don served as a Director & President of Wright Hennepin Electric Coop as well as serving on the United Power Association Board. Along with his wife Ang, they thoroughly enjoyed the time with other Directors and spouses. He was a member of St. Timothy's Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Maple Lake Flying Club, and Maple Lake American Legion Post 131. He loved being a Grandpa, immensely enjoying the time and affection of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Angela of Maple Lake, sons Wayne (Sue) of Maple Lake, Timothy (Mana Rei) of Silva, MO, Brian of Maple Lake, Bradley (Esther) of South Haven, sister Edna Knoblaugh of Buffalo, 14 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Tony Reznicek, and brothers Jerome, Marvin & Kenneth.
The pallbearers will be Toban, Tyrel, Clint, Erik & Blake Paumen, and Todd Seidel. The music for the service will be provided by St. Timothy's Resurrection Choir with Marge Pavlik, organist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
