DeVan A. Hawkinson, age 63, of Annandale, died March 27, 2011 at his home in Annandale.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the church.

DeVan Allan Hawkinson was born March 13, 1948 in St. Cloud to Fred and Alma (Schauer) Hawkinson. He was baptized on April 18, 1948 and confirmed on April 29, 1962, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale; where he was a member throughout his life. DeVan graduated from Annandale High School with the class of 1966 & spent most of his life in Annandale. Shortly after graduating from high school, DeVan developed a mental illness that he suffered from for years to come. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He loved his animals, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, billiards, music and staying physically fit. DeVan had a big heart, always wanting to be with and help his friends.

He is survived by his sister, Diana (Thad) Ashwill of Annandale; brother, Denis (Luane) Hawkinson of New Brighton; nieces and nephews, Tab Ashwill, Trent (Jennifer) Ashwill, Tracy (Gary) Schill, Brett Hawkinson and Bart (Julie) Hawkinson; and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a still born brother.

Pallbearers will be Tab Ashwill, Tracy Schill, Brett Hawkinson and Bart Hawkinson. Military Honors will be provided by the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
