Denis W. Larson, age 65, of Maple Lake, formerly of Marshall, Minnesota, passed from this life into the eternal hands of his Savior on Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A private funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery, Marietta, Minnesota.

Denis Walter Larson was born January 10, 1948 in Marshall, Minnesota to the late, Walter E. and Bernice (Pratt) Larson. He attended Westside Elementary School and Marshall Junior and Senior High Schools. He graduated an honor student with the class of 1966. He continued his education at Bemidji State University where his greatest joy was playing college football under the late head coach, Don Palm. He ended college in 1969 and went to work as a residential builder and remodeler for local contractors in the Annandale-Maple Lake area for the next twenty years. Sandwiched in those years, Denny spent two years in the Maple Lake Public School system. He served as an assistant to then Principal Ken Engel and as an assistant coach in football with good friend, Bruce Bakeberg. He carried many friendships and a deep respect for teachers and the public education system in Maple Lake for the rest of his life. In 1989, he went to work for Ken Hennen at Maple Lake Lumber as a residential draftsman and continued in that position for Daryl Hennen.

He enjoyed the building business his entire life. He enjoyed drawing, painting, graphic arts, Maple Lake Laker amateur baseball and all sporting events. He shared a screen-printing hobby with his best friend, John O'Neil, for many years, printing athletic sportswear and wearing apparel. His greatest love was classical country western music.

Denny is survived by his sister, Cathi Eichten and her husband, Lawrence of Mesa, AZ; niece, Kourtney Eichten of Shakopee, MN; and brother through friendship, John O'Neil, as well as many other friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Faye Kathryn Larson.

Denis was richly blessed in his lifetime and hopefully left this world better for having touched the lives of his friends in a special way.
