Debra L. Lakie, age 56, of South Haven passed away from cancer on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a Celebration Service held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. DJ Lura officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Pancreatic Cancer Research Center.
Debra Lynn Lakie was born Janurary 22, 1953 in Long Beach, California to Arnold and Rose (Johnson) Erdman. She was raised in Minnesota on Lake Independence and graduated from Orono High School. Debra was united in marriage to Gary Lakie on October 14, 1990 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. For the past seven years, Debra was employed at the Buffalo Clinic. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale, and past member of Zion Lutheran Church and Spirit of Joy Church both in Buffalo. Debra was also a member of the Buffalo Lions and Lioness and formerly the Buffalo Boy Scouts.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Gary of South Haven; sons, Kyle Rasmusson of Waite Park, Scott Rasmusson of South Haven, Gregory (fiancAC., Jessica Behannesy) Lakie of Tinley Park, IL and Garret Lakie of Hebron, IN; parents, Arnold & Rose Erdman of Cokato; brothers, Russell Erdman of Montrose and Steven (Janis) Erdman of South Haven; nephew, Nick Erdman; and aunts, uncles and many friends.
The music for the service will be provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma, organist and Kathy and Del Bye, vocalists. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
