David Olson, age 81, of Annandale died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. DJ Lura and Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.
David Olson was born May 16, 1928 in Buffalo to David E. and Alvina E. (Kaduce) Olson. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Betty A. Swingley on March 21, 1953 in Buffalo. He was a lineman and cable splicer for Lakedale Telephone Company for 40 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he did much volunteer maintenance work. He was a former part-time Annandale Police Officer and former member of the Annandale Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, repairing small engines, and spending time with family & friends. He was a gentle giant of a man who loved people.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Annandale, sons Bruce of Kimball, Carl & his wife Judy of Newport News, VA, sister Lavone Pribyl & her husband Gordon of Maple Lake, grandchildren Jessica (Dan) Olson, James (Taffie) Olson, Matthew Bronstad, Brian (Lisa) Olson, and Michelle Olson, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Ricky Habisch, Dan Schmitz, Ron Mares, Scott Stoppleman, Fred Gunderson, and Jim Thurber. The music for the service will be provided by Mark & Ardis Nelson and Orma Lou Jacobsma. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
