David George Lundberg was born on October 14, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Lorraine (Bloom) Lundberg. Dave grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School in 1965. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. On July 12, 1969, he married his beloved Barbara Heino at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would span more than five decades.
Together, David and Barbara created a wonderful home filled with love, laughter, and memorable celebrations. They welcomed three children into their lives while they made their homes in the communities of White Bear Lake, Duluth, and Edina before settling in Annandale. Throughout their journey, Dave's role as a father was one of his greatest joys.
David's career began as both a former district sales manager for Chrysler and as an owner of two dealerships. His passion for the business extended into real estate investment and development, where he owned apartment buildings that provided homes and communities for many.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and later St. Phillips the Deacon in Plymouth. He engaged in his community through the Annandale Lions, A.A., and Pleasant Lake Association. Dave was a golf enthusiast and was a member of the Southbrook and Burl Oaks golf courses.
With a zest for life, Dave delighted in gatherings, family celebrations, and the annual 4th of July festivities in Annandale. His love for music, downhill skiing, and anything related to cars was only rivaled by his passion for living on Pleasant Lake, where he found solace in boating, water skiing, and tending to his yard. He was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan. Dave had a unique affinity for counting numbers and Sudoku. He delighted in the thrill of making a deal, and enjoyed the process from start to finish.
He is survived by his wife, Barb of Annandale; children, Amanda (Shawn) Smoot of Inver Grove Heights, Gretchen (Jared) Olson of Eagan, and Jon (Melissa) Lundberg of Elk River; grandchildren, Logan and Jackson Smoot, Connor and Mackenzie Lundberg; siblings-in-law, Sue Bloom, Carolyn (Gordon) Fobbe, Dee Dee Lorentzen, Frank (Kathy) Heino, Norm Heino, Debbie Heino, and Randy (Colleen) Heino; special cousin, Don Bloom; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jon "Jack" and Paul Lundberg; and brother-in-law, Al Lorentzen.
Dave's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
