Daniel John Rassat was born on April 14, 1952, in Buffalo, Minnesota to Clarence and Muriel (Kotilinek) Rassat. Dan lived his entire life in Maple Lake, where he was a lifelong member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. A graduate of Maple Lake High School in 1970, Dan devoted 17 years of his career to the Soo Line Railroad before spending the next 30 years as a machinist operator for Malco Tools.
Dan was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, and tending to his garden, finding happiness in nurturing the land and sharing it with the local deer and pheasants. A passionate supporter of Minnesota sports, he could often be found cheering on the Twins and Vikings. In quieter moments, he enjoyed puzzles and had an irresistible fondness for donuts. Dan's greatest joy came from his family, especially the moments he was able to spend with his grandkids.
He is survived by his son, Samuel (Kari) of Maple Lake; life partner of 31 years, Sharon Helmbrecht of Buffalo; step-children, Brandon (Racheal) Helmbrecht of Foley, Andrea (Joel) Zwilling of Big Lake, Katie (Michael) Braun of Maple Lake, Joel (Whitney) Helmbrecht of Buffalo; grandchildren, Gabriel, Brooklyn, Hayden, Shayla, Sawyer, Tucker, Charlie, Hadleigh, Jack, Hailey, Hannah, Garrett, Lexi, Levi, and Baby Girl with an expected arrival in August; great-grandson, Apollo; siblings, Bob (Jackie) of Buffalo, Ron (Jody) of Maple Lake, Cheryl Blackwell of El Mirage, AZ, and Joe (Nancy Kaiser) of Maple Lake; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Muriel; niece, Heather Albachten; and stepson, Rick Lee.
Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
