Dan "Snag" Jost was born March 10, 1952 in St. Cloud to Phil and LaVerne (Schreifels) Jost. He graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1970. On July 19, 1980 he was united in marriage to Wendy Westphal at St. John's Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Dan and Wendy shared their 30 years together farming in Albion Township, moving up and down Hoyt Avenue until they purchased the Jost Family Farm in 1992. Dan was also a backhoe operator and a member of IUOE Local 49.
Dan's most cherished treasures were his many close friends and his love of the land. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and spending time with friends. Dan loved to tell stories and had a contagious laugh; he knew how to make people feel special. He will be remembered for his selfless giving; if someone was in need, Dan was there to help.
Dan will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife Wendy; sisters and brother, Renee (Jim) Logeais of Annandale, Mary (Garrit) Memelink of Hastings, Ken (Sue) Jost of Maple Lake, Judy (Doug) Pederson of New London, JoAnn Pederson (Ted Maikkula) of Maple Lake, Brenda (Kevin) Raiche of Buffalo and Terri (Fred) Gunderson of Annandale; father in law, Roger "Butch" Westphal of Maple Lake; brothers in law and sister in law, Wayne (Joy) Westphal of Vadnais Heights, Wanda (Mike) Gagnon of Waverly and Wyatt Westphal of Vadnais Heights; many beloved nieces and nephews; many, many friends; and his loyal companions Betsy, Ernie, and Timmy.
