Mr. Curtis O. Tasa, age 85, of South Haven formerly Richfield died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. DJ Lura officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Curtis O. Tasa was born June 16, 1920 in Sisseton, SD to Ole and Betsy (Grover) Tasa. He served his Country during WW II in the US Army as part of the 99th Infantry Battalion (Sep). The 99th Infantry was a Norwegian ski unit formed to liberate Norway. Curtis and the 99th were also an active force during the invasion of Normandy. He married Barbara Ohslund on November 8, 1947 in Clarissa. Curtis lived in Richfield for many years where he was a machinist in the telecommunications industry retiring in 1985. After retirement he moved to their lake home in South Haven. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale, life member of the Richfield VFW Post #5555, and the American Legion. Curtis was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was very active in the 99th Infantry Battalion (Sep) reunions and the friends he made remained an important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of South Haven; 3 children and their spouses, James (Debrah) of Zimmerman, Rebecca (Roger) Williamette of Burnsville, and Robert (Mary) of South Haven; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a half brother.
Pallbearers will be Jason, Justin, Michael, and Jeremy Tasa, Berkley Rodgers, and Richard Lausen. Music for the funeral provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma and Bev Sorensen.
