Curtis M. Carlson, age 64, of Kimball, formerly of Rush City, died on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 7:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Visitation will be begin at 4:00 pm on Friday also at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake.

Curtis Michael Carlson was born June 10, 1950 in Minneapolis to Richard and Sylvia (Poyhonen) Carlson. Curt grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1968. He then went on to further his education at Anoka Hennepin Technical School as well as Minneapolis Vocational School. On December 10, 1971, Curt was united in marriage to Sheryl Ann Schuman in Minneapolis. In 1972, Curt began working for International Paper. He then went on to work for Hoffman Engineering in Anoka from 1979-1999. He retired and then began his next adventure in life; owning his own businesses. From 1986 to 1991 he and Sheryl owned and operated Jolly Time Resort by Clearwater Lake. He enjoyed his entrepreneurial ventures such as owning laundromats, apartment buildings, coffee shops, and doing house renovations. In his spare time, Curt enjoyed putzing and tinkering, and sharing his lifelong appreciation for music with Sheryl. He liked to be out at the lake, a spot they went every weekend when the kids were younger. Above all, Curt treasured the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Curt is survived by his wife, Sheryl of Kimball; children, Mark (Tracey) of Milaca, Chad (Colleen) of South Haven, and Darrick (Christine) of Sauk Rapids; 9 grandchildren, Caleb, Nathaniel, Joshua, Noah, Abigail, Josiah, Emma, Claire, and Canden; brother, Gary (Mary Ann) of Rush City; and other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sylvia Carlson.
