Clifford J. Lund, age 89 of Annandale died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Talahi Care Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Annandale Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Phillip Geoffrion will officiate and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
Clifford John Lund was born January 4, 1919 in Silver Creek Township to Arthur and Amelia (Gunn) Lund. He graduated from Monticello High School. Cliff served his country as a Staff Sergeant during WWII from January 27, 1943 to September 7, 1945 in the US Army Air Force. He was stationed in Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He married Lillian Hill on April 2, 1942 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 1953. On June 8, 1957 he married Beverly Ann Rathje at Beverly's parents' farm in Albion Township. Cliff worked as a mechanic, Standard Oil Bulk Agent, Rural Mail Carrier, Postal Clerk and a School Bus Driver. He retired from the Annandale Post Office on October 2, 1985 after 27 years of service. He was a member of Albion Evangelical Free Church and a previous member of Annandale Evangelical Free Church. Cliff was active in the church, including serving the Lord as Chairman of the Church, Trustee, Deacon, Conference Delegate and Sunday School Teacher. He built and lived in many homes in Annandale. Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, the outdoors, driving school bus for girl's high school activities, and spending time with his family.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly of Annandale; daughters, Rosalie (Wally) Gloege of Annandale and Bev (Mike) Erickson of Maple Lake; sons, Curt Lund of South Haven and Dan (Marlys) Lund of Moorhead; sister, Ruby Olson of Monticello; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillian; daughter-in-law, Sandy Lund; and brothers, Carl and David Lund.
Pallbearers will be Curt, Dan and Shane Lund, Jeff and Nathan Gloege, Mitchell and Peter Erickson. Honorary pallbearers will be Denise Ferrell, Melissa Steward, Julie Ellis, Tammy Wikan, Alicia Mitchell, Heidi Sistad and Kirsten Lund. Norma Geoffrion and Cliff's grandchildren will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
