Obituary

Cleone M. Mooney, age 77, of Maple Lake died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her home under hospice care surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Cleone Muriel Mooney was born August 19, 1938 in Corcoran Township, Hennepin County to Arthur and Redella Mae (Jewett) Stoppelman. She grew up on the family farm and at the age of 12 they moved to Buffalo, Minnesota. Cleone attended school in Buffalo graduating with the Class of 1956. Two weeks after her high school graduation on June 16, 1956, Cleone was united in marriage to Donald James Mooney at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. They lived in Maple Lake for a short time before moving to Silver Creek. They found themselves back in Maple Lake just north of town before they built their current home in 1969, where they have resided since. Onie worked various jobs while raising her family, with her favorite being at Ertel Pharmacy where she worked as a store clerk for many years. Cleone was a Lioness in Maple Lake, a choir member with St. Timothy's Resurrection Choir, and a part of the Maple Lake Ladybugs. Onie was also an original Irish Washerwoman. In her spare time, Cleone enjoyed tending to her gardens, sewing, making ceramic dolls, playing cards, dancing and fishing with her own fishing rod and tackle box. Cleone also provided childcare to numerous Maple Lake area children. Above all, Cleone cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.

Cleone is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don of Maple Lake; children, Daniel (Marcia) of Big Lake, Steve (Pamela) of Maple Lake, Cliff (Linda Tobin) of Clearwater, Teresa (Douglas) Kempenich of Maple Lake, Rich (Heidi) of Maple Lake, Chris (Kim) of Clearwater, Dede (Rob) Fieldseth of Monticello, and Debbie (Andy) Hanson of Clearwater; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren with 3 additional on the way; siblings, Darryl Stoppelman of Buffalo, Glynette  Cleveland of Big Lake, Loren (Bea) Stoppelman of Maple Lake and Ardys (Allan) Buskey of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Redella Stoppelman, sister-in-law, Pat Stoppelman, brother-in-law, Roger Cleveland, and nephew and niece, Rory and Judy Stoppelman.

Matthew Mooney, Nicholas Mooney, Tyler Mooney, Aaron Mooney, Todd Kempenich, Nathon Johnson, and Darby Hanson will serve as pallbearers with Cleone's remaining grandchildren serving as Honorary Pallbearers. Marge Pavlik and St. Timothy's Resurrection Choir will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
