Clayton C. Linn, age 94, of Kimball died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the VA Medical Center, St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. Tom Olson officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and on Monday one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are preferred.
Clayton Chester Linn was born March 13, 1915 in Maine Prairie Township to Richard and Clara Linn. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1934 and then received teacher's training in Annandale. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Navy where he became a member of the 7th Fleet Air Wing. Clayton married Mabel G. Lacina on December 10, 1941 in Norfolk, VA. Following WW II he received his teaching certificate from St. Cloud State University and for 4 years taught at the Meyer School, St. Augusta. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1976 after serving in Kimball as Postmaster for 32 years. Clayton was past Commander and member of the Kimball American Legion Post 262 and served for 27 years as coach of the Junior Legion Baseball Team. He was a member of Forty & Eight, Minnesota Poultry Assn, American Poultry Assn, and the Church of St. Anne where he was an usher, special needs religious education teacher, and a Mass server for funerals.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mabel of Kimball, children & their spouses Joyce & Jim Johnson of The Villages, FL, Garry & Mary Linn of Kimball, Sharon & John Barberg of Cokato, Mike & Debra Botzek Linn of Kimball, Anne & Charles Wodetzki of Valparaiso, IN, sister in law Marjorie Linn of Watkins, grandchildren Dr. JeRay Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Job Barberg, Richard Linn, Jakub Barberg, Jordan Wodetzki, C.J. Wodetzki, Jennifer Duerksen, Michele Groinus, Jessica Carlson, Abigail Wodetzki, 12 great grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister Mabel Unterburger and brother Lloyd preceded him in death.
St. Anne's Choir with Frosty Schiefelbein, organist will provide the music for the service and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
