Obituary
Clara R. Swanson, age 94, of Annandale died Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Annandale Care Center.
Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Services held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006 at St. John`s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Memorials are preferred to St. John`s Lutheran Church Library.
Clara Ruth Swanson was born February 8, 1912 in Southside Township, Wright County the youngest of nine children born to Swedish immigrants John and Sofia (Olson) Gunnerson. On July 1, 1941 Clara married Carl Swanson at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. Born to them was one son and the family settled in Bloomington during the mid forties near where Carl was employed as the manager of the Minnesota Masonic Home Farm. Spanning four decades Clara was an elementary teacher in the Bloomington School District. In 1974 she returned to her hometown of Annandale and spent her retirement years with church & community activities, traveling, gardening and relating to family and friends. She was a member of St. John`s Lutheran Church and Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her son, Craig & his wife, Anette of Clearwater Township; grandson, Eric (Jodi) Swanson & great granddaughter, Taylor of Albany; granddaughter, Karna (Joseph) Holub & great granddaughters, Sofia & Victoria of Blaine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1972, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The pallbearers will be Eric Swanson, Joseph Holub, . The music for the service will be provided by Becky Unger, pianist and Bev Sorensen, soloist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
