Charles A. Thompson, age 87 of Annandale died Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Rev. Thomas Queck will officiate and burial will be in Corinna Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Charles Argyle Thompson was born June 27, 1921 to Charles and Irene (Banke) Thompson in New Germany. He graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1940. Charles served his country in the US Marine Corp during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He married Myrtle E. Harthun on March 9, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Charles worked for N.W. Bell Telephone Company for 33 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale and a former member of the Lutheran Church of the Triune God, Brooklyn Center. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in the outdoors.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtle; children, Charlene Stangland of Eden Prairie, Doris (John) Noard of Trinidad, CO and Paul (Karen) of Vadnais Heights; sister, Emily Anderson of Stacy; granddaughters, Angela (Jeremy) Anderson, Lindsay and Christina; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents and brother, Duane preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Paul Thompson, John Noard, Steve Lonn and Jeremy, Mike & Todd Anderson. Diane Johnson, organist, will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
