Catherine "Kay" Marie Klingelhutz, age 84, of Annandale, formerly of Chanhassen, died at her home under hospice care on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Andrew Stueve as Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Catherine Marie Klingelhutz was born May 14, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Anthony and Bertha (Sundby) Bruers. Kay grew up in the Chaska area, where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1953. On October 10, 1953 she was united in marriage to Thomas O. Klingelhutz at Guardian Angels Church in Chaska. While Tom served in the United States Army, they were stationed in Alaska. Upon his discharge, Tom and Kay returned to Minnesota and made their home in Chanhassen. Kay worked as the city clerk for the City of Chanhassen for 20 years before retiring in 1985. In 1987, Kay and Tom moved to their home on Clearwater Lake where they have resided since. Kay gave of her time to the Annandale Kiwanis Club where she served as the club's treasurer for 25 years, served on the Annandale/Maple Lake Community Education Advisory Council, and was also treasurer of the Clearwater Lake Property Owners Association. Kay served as committee chair for past Wright and Carver County Sheriff elections and was a proud supporter of the Republican Party. In her retirement, Kay enjoyed participating in a bowling league, a 500 club, and crafts. She also took the time to create photo albums keepsakes for all her grandchildren. Kay is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tom of Annandale; daughters, Vicky (Dale) Hoeft of Mayer and Maria (Stephen) Sanocki of Stillwater, MN; daughter-in-law, Sally Klingelhutz of Kingsford, MI; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Karen) Bruers and Janet (Ellis) Thomas both of Chanhassen; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends. Kay was preceded in death by her son Rick, parents Anthony and Bertha Bruers. Tony, Jeffrey, Thomas, and Joshua Hoeft, Joseph, Jacob, and Jeana Klingelhutz, and MiKayla, Mark, and Kate Sanocki will serve as pallbearers. St. Ignatius Music Ministry will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
