Obituary
Catherine G. Brouwer, age 66, of Dassel, formerly of Cokato, died May 11, 2013 at Augustana Lakeside Health Care Center in Dassel after a 12 year battle with cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Friends may call beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Catherine Gwendoline Brouwer was born April 19, 1947 in Willmar, Minnesota to Maxwell and Gwendoline (Goodall) Zehlke. Catherine was graduated from St. Louis Park High School and then furthered her education in nursing. Catherine worked as a registered nurse for a majority of her working career. While working as a nurse, Catherine worked in various areas across the country, as well as working in foreign nations. She always considered the Central Minnesota area her home.
Catherine enjoyed the arts, especially painting and knitting. She loved music and enjoyed dancing. She also took a special interest in bird watching. Catherine also enjoyed football; she was a San Francisco 49ers fan, as well as the Green Bay Packers. She was given the opportunity to attend a Packer game on Christmas Day of 2011 at Lambeau Field, a memory which she treasured. Catherine will always be remembered for her strong willed personality.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Teresa DeBaun (Robert Wisner) of Dunedin, FL and Jackie (Roger) Hugget of Minneapolis, MN; 6 grandchildren, Travis, Cody, and Nicolas DeBaun of Texas, and Brittanie, Brian, and Brenton Moore of Minnesota; 6 great grandchildren, Arden DeBaun, Javen and Noah Moore, Darrin, Owen, and Preston Fischer; siblings, Lynn Goodwin of Brainer, MN and Allen Zehlke of Edina, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Max and Gwen Zehlke.
Catherine and her family wanted to thank the Meeker Memorial Hospital Oncology Department for the kind and loving care they provided her over the years. They would also like to acknowledge the compassionate care she received at Augustana Lakeside Health Care in Dassel.
