Carla J. Scheffert, age 82, of St. Cloud, formerly of Annandale, died Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Edenbrook of St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Ken Tatkenhorst officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Ottertail. In honor of Carla's request of no flowers, donations can be made to Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven, Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, or St. John's Lutheran Church in Ottertail.
Carla Jeanne Hellbusch was born on February 18, 1942, in Fullerton, Nebraska, to Emil "Jack" and June (Schroeder) Hellbusch. She was baptized on March 15, 1942, at Peace Lutheran in Timber Creek, NE. Carla moved with her family near Henning, Minnesota. She was confirmed on April 3, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran in Ottertail. She was a 1959 graduate of Henning High School. She then completed her R.N. schooling at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota. She continued her education, graduating from College of St. Francis in Jolliet, Illinois and Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Carla was a devoted nurse, whose passion for home health care touched the lives of countless individuals and families. Her tenure at parish nursing exemplified her commitment to service and her remarkable ability to care for others, bringing comfort to those in her presence. Throughout her life, Carla exemplified strength and determination in the face of challenges. She was always ready with wise counsel, a listening ear, and a compassionate embrace.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carla was a woman of many talents. She found joy in quilting, knitting, scrapbooking and often created heartfelt greeting cards. Her love for reading provided her with endless adventures and she enjoyed perfecting her culinary skills. As a gardener, Carla cultivated sanctuary that reflected her nurturing nature, and she proudly shared her knowledge as a tea connoisseur, believing in the comfort of a warm cup shared with others.
She is survived by her children, John (Suzanne) Scheffert of Prior Lake, MN, and Jill (Mac) McAlister of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Carlie McAlister, Nicholas Scheffert, and Andrew Scheffert; and other family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul, in 1987 and her parents.
