Obituary

Mr. Bruce E. Day, age 76, of Clearwater, formerly Maple Lake and Wayzata died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at home.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey B. Palmer officiating. A private interment will be in Summit Park Cemetery, Wayzata. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church in Maple Lake.

Bruce Earl Day was born on November 14, 1928 in Minneapolis to Earl W. and Janet E. (Day) Day. He graduated from Wayzata High School in 1946. He served his Country in the US Army during WW II and married Mary L. Chapman on July 27, 1952 in Worthington. He was a plumber by vocation for E.W. Day & Sons for 29 years retiring in 1979. By avocation, Bruce was a volunteer fireman with the Wayzata Fire Department for 36 years; 7 of which were spent as chief. He was a member of the Maple Lake VFW Post #7664 and Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake. Bruce loved his family, fishing, woodworking, and volunteering his time, especially at Maple Lake High School.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lee of Clearwater; daughters, Laurie (Douglas Thomson) Day of Minneapolis and Lenore (Day) Dave Lemke of Monticello; son, Wayne of Andover; daughter in law, Lynne Day of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Lindsay and Luke Day, Andrew and Lia Thomson, and Nick and Bryce Lemke; brothers, Lowell (Kathy) of Villard, Harold (Fran) of Plymouth, Jim (Renaye) of New Hope, Doug (Delores) of Wayzata, Lyle (Kathy) of Plymouth, Dennis (Terri) of Smithton, PA, and William of Minneapolis; sisters, Doris (Jack) O`Neill of Carbondale, Co, Margaret Lessard of Crystal, Harriet (Kenneth) Carlson of Wayzata, Marian Bowser of Plymouth, and Jane Freund of Crystal. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, Kent in 1968 and Keith in 2003; and brother, John.

Music for the funeral provided by Myrna Jude, Sarah Goelz, and Lowell Beck. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wayzata Volunteer Fire Department.

Memorials Are Preferred.
