Obituary
Bernice J. Morford, age 97, of Leavenworth, KS, formerly of Topeka, KS died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Broadway Heights in Leavenworth, KS.
She was born August 18, 1905 at Kintyre, ND the daughter of William and Leota (Warrington) Bottenfield. On April 5, 1923 she married Robert R. Morford in Ontario, Canada; he preceded her in death on November 5, 1962.
Bernice was a homemaker, a seamstress and an active member of the First Baptist Church, Leavenworth, Kansas including the White Cross group. She has also been a volunteer at the Leavenworth Assistance Center.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert M. Morford and his wife Pandora of Waite Park, MN; Chester C. Morford and his wife Lena of Topeka, KS; six daughters, Leota Dalby Jones of Leavenworth, KS, Lois M. Salter and her husband Lloyd of Menoken, ND, Louise E. Hay and her husband John of New Braunfels, TX, Viola M. Green and her husband Howard of Chatsworth, GA, Lorraine D. Parker and her husband Boyd of Canyon Lake, TX and Fern B. Stevens and her husband Joseph of Fort Worth TX; 40 Grandchildren, and numerous Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the First Baptist Church, Leavenworth, KS with the Rev. Ron Jones officiating. A graveside service and burial will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Memorial Cemetery in Topeka, KS. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth, KS and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church at 340 N. 13th, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
