Arthur L. Runde, age 89, of Kimball died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the St. Cloud V.A. Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. Thomas Olson as the Celebrant. Burial will be 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 27 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Assembly Area 4. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to services, Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the VA Hospice Program at St. Cloud VA Health Care Systems.
Arthur Lawrence Runde was born August 7, 1924 in Minneapolis to Arthur and Ellen (Donovan) Runde. He graduated Valedictorian at Edison High School, Class of 1942. Arthur served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He worked for Northern Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1985. Arthur was a member of the Kimball American Legion Post 261.
He is survived by his son David (Mary Jo) Runde of Bloomington; brother Richard of St. Louis Park; two step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Ellen; son Michael; brother Larry; and ex-wife Shirley.
Pallbearers will be Tanya, Jaden and Clay Milner, Tamara Bracht, Joel Endrizzi, Jeff Preble, Doug Patterson, Mark Stiglicz and Bill Tombers. The St. Anne's Choir and Frosty Schiefelbein will provide the music for the service. Military honors will be provided by the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services.
