Arnold W. Vandenheuvel, age 83, of St. Cloud and formerly of South Haven, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the V.A. Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Fr. Victor officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 29 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Assembly Area 5.
Arnold William Vandenheuvel was born January 11, 1930 to Anton and Florence (Schaff) Vandenheuvel in Dennison. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War; he was injured during combat and awarded the Purple Heart. On November 23, 1959, he was united in marriage to Roselle Mertens at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Arnold worked as a US Postal Carrier for over 25 years. In 1965, Arnold & Rose purchased a farm in South Haven and he farmed the land. In 2011, they moved to St. Cloud. Arnold was a former member of the Kingston American Legion Post 483 and St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, farming, helping out at French Lake Auto Parts and planting trees. Arnold had a big heart and loved to help other people.
He is survived by his wife Rose; one sister; one brother and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The Urn Bearer will be his brother Joe Vandenheuvel. Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. The Ft. Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Rifle Squad will provide the military honors. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
