Arlene J. Barnes, age 93, of Annandale, formerly of South Haven, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Annandale Care Center. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fairhaven with Rev. Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Acacia Cemetery, near Clearwater. Arlene Joyce Klemz was born on February 23, 1932, in Silver Creek, Minnesota to Charles and Ruth (Sheldon) Klemz. She spent her early years in Silver Creek before moving to the Clearwater area as a young girl. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Minneapolis from 1950 to 1970. On April 26, 1963, Arlene married Dale W. Barnes in Minneapolis. In 1970, they settled in the South Haven area for many years along with their four children. Following Dale's death, Arlene had a brief stay in Princeton before returning to the area, eventually making her home in Annandale. A faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek, Arlene was baptized and confirmed in her youth, a testament to her deep-rooted faith and values. She has been a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Arlene's passion for cooking made her a figure in various local restaurants. She found joy in knitting, exploring garage sales, and traveling. She is survived by her children, Jilene (Rusty) Laney of Pillager, Charles (Lisha) Barnes of Annandale, and Tammy Barnes (Kyle Schmidt) of Annandale; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mike Merkwan of Volin, SD; siblings, Gladys Ahsenmacher and Jack Klemz; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; daughter, Gerri Merkwan; and siblings, Iva Martinson, Lucille Venske, Vivian Bratsch, Judy Herzog, Lloyd, Russell, Marvin, Dayle, Bud, and Neil Klemz. Arlene's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
