Anthony 'Tony' Verhey, age 79, of Annandale died Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Anthony 'Tony' Verhey was born January 24, 1928 in Long Prairie to Bernard and Victoria (Wystub) Verhey. He married Dorothy M. Logeais on March 10, 1951 in Annandale and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2000. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then was an automobile mechanic, owning & operating Tony's Auto Service, Annandale from 1975-2000. He was a 38-year member of the Annandale Fire Department and was also a member of the Maple Lake VFW Post 7664 and the Fr. O'Briens Council Knights of Columbus 3613.
He is survived by children & their spouses, Mark & Karen Verhey of Annandale, Vicki & Mike Zieska of Maple Lake, Sally Dugan of Andover; 8 grandchildren, Tony, Theresa, Tara, Heather, Hannah, Sarah, Chris & Chad; and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter & Lily. His wife and 8 brothers & sisters preceded him in death.
The music for the service will be provided by Carol Logeais, soloist and Roger Belanger, organist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care.
