Anita Margaret Dockendorf was born February 22, 1931, on the family farm in Watkins, Minnesota to Nicholas and Mary (Froehling) Dockendorf. Her younger years were spent on the family farm, until shortly after her father's death, in which they moved into the city limits of Watkins. Anita was a 1949 graduate of Kimball High School. On November 12, 1949, Anita was united in marriage to Ambrose "Mickey" Hoefer at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. They made their home in Watkins, until moving to Kimball, where they raised their family. Anita was the epitome of a loving wife, dedicated mother, and devout homemaker throughout her life. Her days were filled with caring for her family and nurturing her community, whether through her delicious baked goods, her crafted sewing projects, or her many visits to those in need. Anita was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church, as well as the Kimball American Legion Auxiliary. Anita served in various roles with the Auxiliary, including being the poppy chair. Anita is survived by her children, Karen (Alan) Hedtke of Spring Lake Park, Mitch (MaryJo) of St. Cloud, Dale (Sue) of St. Cloud, Kathy Smith of St. Cloud, Eileen (Chris) Dahlinger of Kimball, and Terri (Tim) Gettler of Kimball; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.
