Alfred H. Gehrke, age 87, of Clearwater died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his farm home in Fair Haven Township.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow at the Fair Haven Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Friday.
Alfred Henry Gehrke was born September 16, 1923 in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County to Henry and Elsa (Schwartz) Gehrke. He married Evelyn M. Lubbers on September 30, 1952. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and enjoyed being a farmer, deer hunting, spear fishing, four-wheeling, and time spent with his family, friends, & grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Clearwater, children & their spouses Earl & Gwen of South Haven, Janice & Jack Oien of Ketchikan, AK, Alfred Jr & Robyn of South Haven, Leon & Brenda of Paynesville, Byron & Kimberly of Clearwater, sisters Ella Leanhart of Clearwater, Leona Rose of South Haven, Erma Beck of Clear Lake, Dorothy (Walter) Burton of Rice, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Melissa Gehrke, and brother Vernon.
The pallbearers will be Lealund & Aaron Gehrke, Virgil Bragelman, Matt Mathies, Jared Oien, and Doug Kersten.
