Alexander C. Pertl, age 85, of Annandale passed away quietly on November 9, 2011 at the Annandale Care Center.
Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Annandale United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Hograbe officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
Alexander Clark Pertl was born on January 20, 1926 in Minneapolis to Alexander and Lela (Hudson) Pertl. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis West High School. Al served in the United States Naval Corp during World War II, where he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands from 1944-1946. On September 3, 1948, he married Donna Mae Ostlund in Alexandria. Al worked for Lincoln Electric for most of his life. Al and Donna lived in New Hope until moving to Sugar Lake in Annandale in 1971. After retirement, they spent their winters in Winter Haven, FL and summers back on Sugar Lake.
Al loved to fish, hunt and after retiring, he learned to golf. He enjoyed socializing and having good times with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Donna; two children & their spouses Nancy & Bill Smith of Annandale and Larry & Nancy Pertl of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew & Patty Carlson, Mark Smith, Sarah & Paul Allen and Dan Pertl; and two great grandchildren Alexander Pertl and Addison Allen. He is preceded in death by his parents.
