Roger John Doran was born September 10, 1937, in Minneapolis to John Joseph and Minnie Estelle (Marshall) Doran. He attended South High School in Minneapolis, and entered the U.S. Navy at age 17. Roger was a gunner’s mate in the Navy. His service included a year at the Naval Air Facility Adak in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska where he worked in intelligence with the U.S. Marine Corps. He served a total of five years, with three years attached to the Marines.

Roger married Sheila Tousignant and they had two sons; they later divorced. He married Maxine Johnson on February 2, 1963; he adopted her two daughters, and together they had two more children. They made their home in Minneapolis until relocating to Kimball in 1972.

After his military service, Roger became a journeyman bookbinder. He also worked as an electrician, at a dental lab, and he farmed. In retirement, he became a missionary through Amazing Grace Ministries and traveled to state fairs around the country to evangelize.

Roger was crazy about the Navy, enjoyed farming, learning, and fishing. He could learn anything from scratch. Roger’s passion was for sharing Christ with others and in leading them to accept Jesus as their Savior.

Roger is survived by his wife Maxine of Kimball; children Jean (Anton) Matua of Kimball, Michael (Linda) Delozier of Lakeside, CA, Judy Lindberg of St. Cloud, Kenny (Mary) Delozier of San Diego, CA, Deb (Bill) Thormodson of Hanska, and John (Karen) Doran of Kimball; sister Ruth Ann (Michael) Soltis of Duluth; 14 grandchildren George Matua, Bethany Delozier, Lacy (Richard) Cramer, Michael Moscho, Leah Doran, Andrew and Gabriel Lindberg, Kenny Delozier, Jr., Olivia, Peter, Victoria and Lydia Thormodson, Nicole and David Doran; 2 great-grandchildren Brayden Wozniak and Stella Delozier; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
