Ortega S. Mohamed, age 23, of Kimball, died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 in Waite Park as a result of suicide after a battle with depression.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Kimball Christian Church in Kimball with Pastor Joe Druga officiating. Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, both at the church. Memorials are preferred to Kimball Christian Student Ministries.
Ortega Sadik Mohamed was born July 8, 1996 in Kakuma, Kenya. He was adopted by Jim and Terry (Erpelding) Frilstad on May 19, 2014. He graduated from Kimball High School with the Class of 2016. While in school, he was on the football and basketball teams and participated in speech and the one act play. Ortega worked at Casey's in Kimball; he had a smile for anyone that entered the door. Ortega enjoyed music, dancing, playing video games, comics, anime and card tricks. He loved to be with people and to hang out with friends. Ortega had a kind heart and saw life as a celebration that he wanted to share with others.
Ortega is survived by his parents, Jim and Terry Frilstad of Kimball; brothers and sister, Josh Frilstad of Maplewood, Becki (Jim) Bystrom of Monticello, Scott Golla of St. Cloud, Steven (Devon) Golla of Kimball, Donnie Frilstad of Kimball and Adam Frilstad of Kimball; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Emily Rose, Syren, Eliot, Josh, Jr. and Sophia; grandma, Mary Louise Mills; and many aunts and uncles and friends.
The casket bearers will be Josh, Adam and Donnie Frilstad, Scott and Steve Golla and Jim Bystrom. Attendees of the visitation and funeral are encouraged to wear Superman shirts or other superhero clothing. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
