Norma M. Matthees, age 93, of South Haven, Minnesota, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital with her minister praying at her side.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven with visitation on hour prior to the service. Rev. David Buchs will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.
Norma Marie Matthees was born to John and Annie (Bloom) Reid on November 1, 1926 in Algona, Iowa. She grew up in multiple communities in southern Minnesota. She lived in Winthrup, Minnesota until moving to South Haven in 1952. On March 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Lester Matthees at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven. Norma enjoyed reading, being outdoors and farming. She loved raising chickens on the farm; she was able to supply many local cafes and stores with eggs.
Norma is survived by her children, Roger Petzel (significant other, Barbara Frappier) of South Haven and Marie Working of South Haven; 2 grandchildren, Thomas (Amber) Working and Gregory Working; 3 great grandchildren, Dylan, Avery and Alex Working; brother and sisters, Ralph (Deloras) Reid of Annandale, Delores Schmidt of South Haven and Fay (John) Lemke of Kimball; and sisters-in-law, Doris Reid of Paynesville and Lois Reid of Annandale. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son; and brothers, Lester, Lyle and Willard Reid.
The urn bearer will be Kyle Schmidt. Lynn Hoff will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
