Muriel Johnson Obituary

Muriel V. Johnson, age 91 of Annandale, died Monday, July 30, 2018 at her daughter's home.

Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Muriel Violet Johnson was born on the family farm in Rosendale on December 8, 1926 to Willie and Edith (Nordine) Peterson. She grew up in Rosendale and attended the Rosendale Country School. Muriel was married to Clifford Johnson in 1950; they lived in Atwater for a few years before moving to Mahnomen to raise their six children on the farm. Muriel worked hard on the farm and in the home. After farming they moved to South Haven. She enjoyed music, especially a good polka. Murial was always finding something to clean; if it couldn't be cleaned, then it needed to be burned. Muriel was very intuitive and perceptive; making correct predictions would be her indication that her “SPE” was working. She had very strong religious beliefs and was very compassionate towards all God’s creatures. She enjoyed taking a stroll through her daughter’s floral garden, appreciated flowers and said only God could create something so beautiful. Muriel’s home was always open to family and friends; the more the merrier. She openly showed affection with hugs and kisses and I love you’s. She valued the strength of family; she was the matriarch of the family and believed in keeping the family’s bond very close. Her wit and sense of humor were a joy to be around.

She is survived by her children Dianne (Ron) Mares, Darla Prevost, Danita Johnson and Darnel Johnson, all of Annandale; eleven grandchildren Nicholas (Nicole) Mares, Nicole (Aaron) Link, Jason Johnson, Dana (Kelly) Farnquist, Trenton and Tremain Prevost, Jeana Farnquist, Shanah, Brady, Kelsey and Wyatt Johnson; nine great grandchildren Mason and Madilyn Mares, Rylan, Madison and Emerson Johnson, Naomi, Jaxon, Paige and Ransom Farnquist. She is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Edith Peterson; brother Donald Peterson; Clifford Johnson; two sons Dennis and Dale Johnson; and granddaughter Rochelle Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Ronald McDonald House or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Chaplain Kenzie Wilson will officiate at the memorial service. The urn bearers will be Nicholas Mares, Wyatt Johnson, Jason Johnson, Trenton Prevost and Tremain Prevost. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
