Michael John Dougherty

Michael J. Dougherty, age 54, of Annandale, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, both at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.

Michael John Dougherty was born August 13, 1965 in Osmond, Nebraska to John and Dolores (Fischer) Dougherty. As a young child, Mike's family moved to Annandale in 1971. In 1983, he graduated from Annandale High School and then continued his education at the University of Minnesota. On July 12, 1985, Mike was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Coreen "Cork" Johnson, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. They continued to make their home in Annandale where they raised their three sons. Mike worked at Turf's Up and as an engineer at Wright-Hennepin before starting Dougherty & Associates in 1995 in Buffalo. Believing in giving of his time and giving back to the community, Mike served on various boards and was a member of various organizations throughout the years, including the Annandale School Board from 1995-2012, Cardinal Athletic Foundation, and serving as an usher and on the Brighter Day Committee at St. Ignatius. Mike always made his family and friends his top priority, whether it be coaching his kids' teams or hosting and entertaining guests. When hosting, Mike could usually be found cooking or manning the grill. He and Cork loved to travel, go for walks, and be on or near the water. He always found a project to work on around the house. Mike also tended to listen to music at a high decibel and sought out a way to satisfy his sweet tooth. As much as Mike cherished being a husband and father, becoming Grandpa to his 7 adoring grandchildren heightened his role as a family man tenfold.

Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Coreen "Cork" of Annandale; sons and their wives, Devin and Rachel, Dillon and Lauren, and Danny and Molly, all of Annandale; 7 grandchildren, Nora, Lakelan, Cade, Alba, Emma, Frankie, and Kieran; mother, Dolores of Annandale; siblings, Colleen Forar of Prior Lake, Jim (Karen) of Bemidji , and Pat (Amy) of Germany; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family members, dear friends, colleagues, and clients. He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Devin, Dillon, Danny, Jim, and Pat Dougherty will serve as urnbearers for the funeral. Krista Elsenpeter, Sarah Goelz, Gina Downs, and Sam Pellegrene will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
