Mary Louise (Lindseth) Johnson

March 6, 1931 ~ October 13, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Mary L. Johnson, age 86, of Kimball went home to the Lord on October 13, 2017.

Friends and loved ones will celebrate her life during a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Church of Christ in Kimball. Pastors Kevin White, Jerry Albert and Eric Marx will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Mary Louise Johnson was born March 6, 1931 in Minneapolis to L. Stanley and Myrtle (Landberg) Lindseth. She grew up in a loving home in Northeast Minneapolis and graduated with the Class of 1949 from Edison High School. On May 21, 1960, Mary was united in marriage to George Johnson at a Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. They lived in Hopkins and Monticello prior to moving to George’s hometown of Kimball in 1992.

Steeped in faith and love for Jesus Christ, Mary’s life centered around her family, friends, community and a lifelong business of making dreams come true through travel. She and George owned and operated Preferred Travel Service in Hopkins and St. Paul from 1960-1975; Country Travel Store in Monticello from 1975-1988; and Johnson Travel Consultants in Kimball until retirement in the late-1990s. Among their specialties, the Johnsons focused on international missionary travel that made it possible for groups of Christians to spread the word of the Lord across the globe.

Mary was a beloved member of the Kimball Area Historical Society, the Church of Christ in Kimball and former member of Monticello Riverside Alliance Church. Her passion for history, professional expertise and attention to detail were driving forces behind the restoration and preservation of Kimball City Hall. She would often provide tours of her historic home in Kimball, sharing her love of history and adding local facts to keep the spirit of Kimball alive for future generations. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, listening to Christian radio and spending time with family and friends. She thoroughly appreciated the stream of guests who visited and signed her guest book this past summer.

Mary is dearly missed by those who survive her including her sister, Donna Patterson of Annandale; sister-in-law, Joyce Lindseth; George’s children James (Carol) Johnson of Monticello, Charles Johnson of Newport and Jeanne (James) Artig of Circle Pines; nine grandchildren Teri (Dave) Charest, Molli (Dan) Grue, Sara Anderson, Charles Johnson, Kimberly (Rick) Saros, James Artig, John Artig, Joanna Artig and Jeanna Artig; 10 great-grandchildren, Walker, Eric, Tyler, Sawyer, Alisha, Amelia, Evan, Brody, Nolan and Fin; nephews and nieces Tim (LaRita) Johnson, Ben (Laura) Johnson, Cindy (Tim) Armstrong, Phoebe (Eric) Marx, Scott, Bruce  and Jay (Melanie) Lindseth; and beloved cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Myrtle; husband, George; brother, Lawrence, and step daughter-in-law Linda Johnson.

The casket bearers will be grandsons Dan Grue and Dave Charest; great-grandsons Walker Anderson and Eric Charest; and grand-nephews Aaron and Austin Marx. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
