Mary L . Bell, age 63, of Maple Lake, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake.
Mary Louise Bell was born June 9, 1954 in St. Louis Park to Raymond and Florence (Hudek) Menth. Mary grew up and attended school in Maple Lake where she graduated with the Class of 1972. She then furthered her education at Alexandria Technical College where she obtained a degree in interior design. Mary made Maple Lake her home for the majority of her life, with the exception of some time spent in Minneapolis and in the Denver area. On April 26, 1985 Mary was united in marriage to Rodney L. Bell at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Mary worked at Dayton’s in Roseville in their home department. She then became the owner of Green Derby Restaurant in Maple Lake for 4 years. Following her time in the restaurant business, Mary then began her 25+ year career as an insurance underwriter. She spent 11 years working for Lumberman Underwriters in Edina, followed by 13 years of dedicated employment to Cannon Cochran Management Services, Inc. in Minnetonka where she was the worker’s compensation adjuster supervisor. As a member of St. Timothy, Mary’s faith was of great importance to her. She gave of her time as a volunteer with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, traveling and spoiling her granddog, Zoey. Mary delighted in family gatherings. She cherished being in the presence of those she loved.
Mary is survived by her husband of 32 years Rod of Maple Lake; children, Matt and Sam of Maple Lake; siblings, Mark (Barbara) Menth of Maple Lake, Paul (Bonnie) Menth of Twin Falls, ID, Lois (David) McHugh of Nowthen, Fred (Geraldine) Menth of Monticello, and Greg (Marcia) Menth of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother David, and nephew Wayne McHugh.
Gordy Menth, Vinnie Menth, Joe Menth, Toni Ross, Katie Melanke, Jenny Goelz, Stephanie Odegard, and Sarah Bighley will serve as pallbearers. Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Shannon Paumen will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
