Marlys M. Dillon, age 86, of Minneapolis, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Fairhaven Cemetery, Fair Haven.

Marlys Mae Dillon was born December 8, 1931 in Fairhaven, MN to Carl and Ruby (Alberg) Dahnke. She grew up in Fairhaven and attended a one room school house in town. She graduated from Kimball High School. On January 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gene Wilbur Dillon. They moved to Minneapolis, where they raised three daughters. Marlys worked at Honeywell until she was pregnant with her second child; she then decided to focus on raising her family at home. She was a member of Pilgram Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Upon retirement, Marlys and Gene moved to Rush Lake in Rush City; eventually moving back to Minneapolis. Marlys enjoyed reading and watching birds, especially cardinals. She was a strong woman and was the family nurse, always caring for them; Marlys always carried a bag filled with all sorts of miscellaneous items just in case one of her party fell ill or was hurt. Her greatest passion were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marlys is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gene; three daughters Sherry Dillon, Jody Stevens and Kelly Dillon-Love, all of Minneapolis; three grandchildren Tyrone Stevens, Colt Stevens (Amanda Day) and Nicole Love (Adam Ellefsen); five great-grandchildren Caleb Sizemore, Jameer and Javon Huff, Devin and Dayton Stevens; sister-in-law Verna Dahnke; nieces Melinda McKay and Julie (Jerry) Wolfsteller; nephew Don (Linda) Dahnke; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and a great great niece. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Dahnke; and son-in-law David Stevens.

The urn bearers will be Tyrone Stevens, Colt Stevens and Nicole Love. Brian Dingmann will serve as the Life Tribute Celebrant. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
