Kenneth Opsahl Obituary

Kenneth D. Opsahl, age 72, of Kimball, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Hilltop Care Center, Watkins surrounded by the love and care of his family.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Kimball Church of Christ with Pastor Joe Druga officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Grace Southside Cemetery in Southside Township. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Kenneth Duane Opsahl was born March 24, 1946 in French Lake Township to William and Luella (Nelson) Opsahl. Ken grew up on the family farm in French Lake Township also. He attended school in Litchfield and Cokato. He was united in marriage to Cindy Helen Weber on November 4, 1967 in Sauk Rapids. Ken honorably served his country in the United States Navy. During his 24 years of service, Ken served 8 deployments to Vietnam. Upon his retirement on March 31, 1988, Ken had reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. On March 11, 1998, Ken was reunited in marriage to Cindy in Buffalo. Together they made their home in Kimball. Ken was a member of the Kimball American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Watkins VFW. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, and prospecting for gold. He liked to spend time in the presence of his family, as well as try his luck with lottery tickets.

Ken is survived by his children, Kyle Opsahl of Broken Arrow, OK, Rebecca (Brent) Wessman of Annandale, Jenny (Mike) Beehler of Kimball, and Dawn (Jason) Lueders of Kimball; twelve grandchildren Todd, Tyler (Chelsea) and Trever (Samantha) Linder, Stephan (Mallory) Kurkosky, Karlee, Jacob and Ashley Beehler, Zya and Andrew Lueders, Adrian, Dillon and Ember Opsahl; one great grandchild Teagan Linder; siblings, William Opsahl of Fairhaven, Bernice (Tom) Follmer of Elk River, Mary Lee (David) Hettinger of Murphy, North Carolina, Paul (Betty) Opsahl of Dassel, and Dennis Opsahl of Annandale; mother-in-law, Millie Fredrick of Kimball; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Cindy, parents, William & Luella, and sister, Elaine Opsahl.

Ken's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Zya Lueders, granddaughter, will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
