Judy Rae (Switzenberg) Schroeder

Judy R. Schroeder, age 68, of Annandale died, Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Buffalo Hospital after a 4 year battle with breast cancer.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Alex Becker officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at First Lutheran Cemetery, Grove City. Memorials are preferred to the Animal Humane Society.

Judy Rae Schroeder was born November 6, 1949 in Slayton, Minnesota to Bruce and Helene (Boomgaarden) Switzenberg. Judy grew up in Grove City, where she also graduated from high school with the Class of 1967. Following her high school graduation, Judy went on to further her education. She spent much of her career working at Prudential Insurance and after 35 years she retired. On April 19, 1986 Judy was united in marriage to Robert James Schroeder at the Wright County Courthouse in Buffalo. Through the years they lived in various communities including Litchfield, Delano, and Howard Lake. In 1998, Judy and Bob chose to make Annandale their home. After her retirement from Prudential, Judy could often be found at Tootsies, selling pull tabs for the Annandale Lions Club.  Judy’s friendly nature and easy-to-talk to personality made her an instant joy to be around. As an animal lover, especially to cats, Judy donated her time to the Humane Society, where she was a cat socialization volunteer, in which she determined if cats could qualify for placement. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed playing bingo and going to meat raffles. She made it a priority to attend benefits for those facing hardships. She always looked forward to the annual casino trip she and Bob would take and her lengthy Sunday phone conversations with her cousin, Lisa. Judy always treasured being in the company of her many, many friends and her adopted family, The Linns. Her cats TJ and Clyde always had a special spot in Judy’s heart.

Judy is survived by her cousins, Jan Vander Ark of Chandler, AZ, Dan (Kay) Vander Ark of Duluth, Kevin (Jodi) Vander Ark of Corcoran, MN, and Lisa (Lori Harrell) Vander Ark of McKinney, TX; her many dear friends; and her cat, Clyde. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents Bruce & Helene Switzenberg, aunt Dorothy Vander Ark, cousin-in-law Ramona Vander Ark, friend Clayton Pfeiler, and cat TJ.
