John Warren Hogberg was born April 7, 1938 in Atwater, Minnesota to Charles and Anna (Knudson) Hogberg. Warren grew up in Atwater where he graduated from high school. He furthered his education in Kansas City, Missouri with a degree in electronics. Upon his graduation, Warren returned to the Dassel where he worked in a television shop and met his future wife. On March 25, 1961 he was united in marriage to Dolores Freeman at the Dassel Covenant Church. Together they moved to Minneapolis where Warren dedicated 40+ years of employment with Maico Hearing Instruments. In the mid-1960’s Warren and Dolores moved to the Annandale area, where they have made their home since. Warren was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir 50+ years as well as served on church council and the property committee. He enjoyed being a ham radio operator with the call letters of K0MGT. In his spare time, he also enjoyed hunting with his sons, whether it be for deer or duck, fishing, and blowing snow. He always looked forward to attending threshing shows and it was rare for Warren to miss an Atwater class reunion. With his mechanical mind, Warren liked to fix anything from minibikes to televisions, and everything in between. There were very few things, Warren was not able to repair. His family, especially his granddaughters and great-granddaughters, always held a special place in Warren’s heart.
Warren is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores of Annandale; sons, David (Penny) and Mark, both of Annandale; granddaughters, Kelli (Matt) Bronder, Kirsten (Jay) Horner, Noelle Hogberg, and Raquel Hogberg; 3 great-granddaughters, Hadley, Hazel, and Bria; sister, Judy Gudmundson of Cokato; and nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Hogberg, and brother, Sheldon Hogberg.
Matt Bronder, Jay Horner, and Todd Freeman will serve as urnbearers. Orma Lou Jacobsma, and Mark and Ardis Nelson will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
