John Allen Anderson was born August 11, 1933 in Chatham Township to Lawrence and Viola (Elsenpeter) Anderson. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school at District #91 for 8 years. John worked on the family farm and on area farms until he graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1951. He then worked construction for two years. He then received his “greetings” from the United States Army, where he honorably served his country. Shortly after his discharge, he was hired by Wright Hennepin Electric, where he worked for the next 20+ years. On June 14, 1958 he was united in marriage to Doris Demarais at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. John was a member of the Maple Lake American Legion, St. Timothy Catholic Church, as well as a 42-year Maple Lake Fire Department volunteer. In his spare time, John enjoyed camping, bowling, hunting, and gardening. He always looked forward to traveling with Doris and their winters in Arizona. John’s greatest enjoyment came from the time he was able to spend with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris of Albertville; children, Connie (Mark) Arrington of Maple Grove, Mike (LaReycia) Anderson of Cheyenne, WY, and Ron Anderson (friend Joanie Adams) of Longmont, CO; 5 grandchildren Ryan (Andrea) Smith, Rachel (Daniel) Gagnon, Kyle (Annie) Smith, Breanne (Randy) Burtis and Ashley (Brett) Siclair; 10 great grandchildren Alivia, Kate, Josie, Brady, Paige, Abby, Bailly, Harper, Audrey and Easton; sisters-in-law Sharon and Elaine Anderson; and other family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tom, Ken, and Jim.

Ryan Smith, Kyle Smith, Dan Gagnon, Kenny Kuechle, Mike Goelz and Terry McNamara will serve as pallbearers. The Maple Lake Fire Department will serve as honorary casket bearers. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide music for the music for the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Maple Lake American Legion and Maple Lake VFW Honor Guard and the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
