Harvey A. Dahl, age 79, of South Haven, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at home with family at his side.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 29 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in rural South Haven. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, both at the church.
Harvey Armand Dahl was born September 4, 1938 in French Lake to Wilmer and Nannie (Sandlund) Dahl. His father died when he was a child and Harvey was raised by his mother and his step-father, Fred Marsh, in Albion Township. Harvey attended a rural one room school house and Maple Lake High School while also helping on the family farm. On October 11, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia Thoreson in Northwood, Iowa. He worked at A.H. Bennett Company in Minneapolis for 22 years as the city desk and warehouse manager. In 1977, he began a manufacturing and roofing supply company named H.A. Dahl Company in Maple Lake, retiring in 1992. In retirement, Harvey and Pat wintered in Phoenix and Glendale, AZ. Harvey enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, playing guitar, singing, gardening, traveling and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughters Bonnie Hokkala (Jim Hicks) of Queen Creek, AZ, Connie (Todd) Bishir of South Haven, Candy (Jeff) Nyren of South Haven and Kelly Dahl of Kimball; nine grandchildren Amy, Sara, Mike, Jimmy, Ashley, Tasha, Parker, Justin and Josh; 11 great grandchildren with one more on the way; and siblings Harry (Karen) Marsh, Lou Dalton, Donna Marsh, Delores (Jim) Stevens and Marilyn (Melvin) Wellnitz. He is preceded in death by his parents Wilmer Dahl, Nannie Marsh and Fred Marsh; wife Pat Dahl; and siblings Evelyn Sparks, Norma Marquette, Richard Dahl and Joan Sheldon.
The urn bearers will be Jim Miceli, Parker Nyren, Justin Oberg and Josh Oberg. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
