Harland S. Westrud, age 75, of Maple Lake died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Chatham Township. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish Prayers will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Annandale.

Harland Sigvard Westrud was born December 6, 1932 in Brooten to Alfred and Mabel (Simonson) Westrud. He married Darlene Blake on April 4, 1964 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Harland worked for Soo Line Railroad, now Canadian Pacific for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, reading, watching sporting events and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Harland is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene; children, Kimberly (Jim) Zumbusch of Maple Lake, Jeffrey (Jessica) of St. Cloud and Allyson (Gary) Dressel of Winsted; sisters, Melba (Ruben) Olson of Willmar, Eunice (Jerome) Weflen of Sunburg, Lavina (Eugene) Keil of Perham, Verna (Arnie) Sharstrom of Morris, Ardis (Roger) Strommen of Monticello, Norma (Jim) Mathiason of Belgrade and Mavis (Verny) Iverson of Alexandria; brother, Vernon (Bonnie) Westrud of Northfield; brother-in-law, Paul Quisberg of New London; sister-in-law, Ardis Westrud of Willmar; grandchildren, Emily, Faith and Nathan Dressel, Jacob and Karsyn Zumbusch. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allan and Gerald Westrud; sister, Delphene Quisberg, niece, Cathy Marie Strommen; and nephew, Randall Olson.

Pallbearers will be Steve Heinsch, Tim Blake, Jerome Weflen, Roger Strommen, Gene Keil and Jim Mathiason. Marge Pavlik, Organist and Resurrection Choir, vocals will provide the music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
