Elizabeth "Betty" Jarvis, age 83, of rural Maple Lake, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. Andrew Stueve as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery, East Maple Lake. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 25, and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A Rosary service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral chapel.
Elizabeth Marie Jarvis was born March 15, 1936 in Faribault, Minnesota to Carl and Elizabeth (Duchene) Oppegard. Betty graduated from Faribault High School. On June 16, 1954 she was united in marriage to Roger B. Jarvis at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. They made their home in Osseo, where Betty cared for their home, raised their 4 children, and supported her husband's dry-wall business. In 1978, they moved to their hobby farm in rural Maple Lake. Betty remained at home, until 2018 when she entered Park View Care Center. Betty's life was always centered around her faith, and was currently a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, playing cards, family camping trips, and the occasional trip to a casino. She was known for her endless energy, hard work ethic and many talents.
Betty is survived by her children, Daniel (Deborah) of Annandale, Douglas (DeAnne) of Monticello, Cindy (James) Fair of Big Lake and Mary (Rick) Tessmer of St. Michael; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Harry) Smuda of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and Alfred (friend, Lola) Oppegard of Las Vegas, Nevada. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roger, and her parents, Carl and Elizabeth Oppegard.
The casket bearers will be grandsons, Mark, Joe, Luke, Justin, Anthony and Jon Jarvis, Ryan and Adam Tessmer. The gift bearers will be Betty's granddaughters, Laces Vaughn, Anna Jarvis, JeNee Olson and Kristie Tessmer. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
